Lawyer apologises for contempt

A LAWYER who has been waging a long-drawn court battle to prove his innocence in a criminal case has had to apologise to the court for offensive remarks he made about two judicial officers.

Bachoo Mohan Singh, 61, was ticked off by Judicial Commissioner Steven Chong earlier this month in a closed-door hearing for contempt of court. Penalties for previous cases of contempt, which are at the discretion of the judge, have ranged from fines to a jail term.
