Australia to face-scan visitors

SYDNEY – AUSTRALIA plans to fingerprint and face-scan visitors from about 10 high-risk countries in a bid to combat extremism, which is now a ‘permanent’ threat, Prime Minister Kevin Rudd said on Tuesday.

PM Rudd said Australia was also concerned about the rising threat from home-grown militancy, just a week after five Sydney men received long jail terms for planning a violent jihad attack.
